On October 6th, 1836 he entered the school of 'des Beaux-Arts' and formed his style under the direction of P Delaroche. He obtained several medals and then in 1855 was awarded by becoming Knight of the Legion of Honour. He exhibited in the Paris Salon between 1842 and 1886. Titles included 'Le Paresseux', 'Le Petit Curieux', 'Les Raisins', 'Lully Enfant' and 'Le Petit Gourmand' to name but a few. He exhibited 28 times at the Royal Academy between 1868 and 1885. He died in Ecouer on the 20th May 1886. A print of a Mother and Daughter washing clothes in a wooden tub in the 1800's, looks like the Mother has on wooden shoes.
