WASHING DAY by Pierre Edouard Frere

Pierre Edouard Frere was born in Paris on the 10th January 1819. On October 6th, 1836 he entered the school of 'des Beaux-Arts' and formed his style under the direction of P Delaroche. He obtained several medals and then in 1855 was awarded by becoming Knight of the Legion of Honour. He exhibited in the Paris Salon between 1842 and 1886. Titles included 'Le Paresseux', 'Le Petit Curieux', 'Les Raisins', 'Lully Enfant' and 'Le Petit Gourmand' to name but a few. He exhibited 28 times at the Royal Academy between 1868 and 1885. He died in Ecouer on the 20th May 1886.
