�Capturing a moment in time and passing it on to others reflects my life.� Dorla Dean Slider is an elected signature member of the American Watercolor Society, A.W.S., since 1972 and Watercolor USA Honor Society, W.H.S. and is listed in Who�s who in American Art. She was the sole juror of selection and awards for the Bethlehem Palette Club (Moravian College) and two paintings are included in the �the Collected Best of Watercolor� published by Rockport Publications 2002.
Earliest beginnings started at the Baum School of Art in Allentown, PA under the tutelage of Dr. Walter E. Baum. As an artist I've worked in many mediums but as a self-taught watercolorist it became my first love. Since my earliest years were spent as an oil painter I easily slid into the world of acrylics which I render both as a watercolor on paper or on canvas. I prefer a variety of paper, boards or canvas to keep my subject exciting and maybe a bit out of the range of the ordinary � never too real, never too abstract. Though landscapes are preferred I also do many people-scapes�each subject determines it�s own medium or surface.
A signature member of the American Watercolor Society, AWS, since 1972, National Watercolor Society, NWS, National Society of Painters in Casein and Acrylic, NSCPA, Knickerbocker Artists, KA, Audubon Artists, Watercolor USA Honors Society, WHS, Philadelphia Water Color Society, PWCS, serving long term on the Board of Directors.
Her watercolor and acrylics have collected gold medals, numerous awards and accolades in regional, national and international shows. Major National Exhibitions: American Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society, National Academy of Design, Butler Institute of Art, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, William Penn Museum of Art, PA, American Painters in Paris, France, Travel Shows for ASW, Old Bergen Art Guild and others.
