See the companion print GETTING AWAY This is a very fine example of F. A. Stewart� s art. He was a highly skilled watercolourist who painted some remarkable images of the hunting field as such.
Stewarts studied at the Slade School under Fred Brown and also at the Frank Calderon school of Animal Painting where Lionel Edwards was the star pupil.
Frank Algernon Stewart (1877-1945) was also a writer and illustrator who worked for various periodicals of the time such as the Field and the Illustrated Sporting and Dramatic News.
A written review of his exhibition at Vicars in London in 1933 comments �There seems to be no limit to sportsmen�s enthusiasm for Mr F.A. Stewart�s watercolours of Hunting countries�.
