Lili Maglione, born and raised on Long Island NY, received her degree in art and design from Traphagen where she studied anatomy under Victor Perard. She attended classes at the New York Art Students League and NYU in painting, illustration, portraiture, and modern art. Maglione has studied representational work with Robert Brackman, and Japanese art with Motoi Oi.

Her paintings have been shown in galleries, museums and universities, and are included in collections here and abroad."I paint what is in some way meaningful in my own life. A family member, a flower in my garden, or an object in my home have all provided subject matter.

Music is important to me and in the current still life paintings I often use a musical instrument that has a personal sentiment or memory attached to it.

When I begin to work on the canvas, I sketch lightly with a brush and thin paint. I then slowly build up the painting, layer over layer with thin acrylic paint until the contrasts become strong enough. At the end, the light areas must be very white.I usually spend several weeks on a painting, layering, measuring, scrutinizing in a mirror for errors, altering the composition as necessary and layering some more.I paint seriously, in quiet and solitude with soft classical background music and I really place myself in that mood when I'm working - serious, quiet, and solitary."
