NEWBURGH-ON-THE-HUDSON by George Harvey (Eng.,1800-1878) Rhode Island School of Design.
George Harvey was known as a landscape and still-life painter. He studied in England before coming to the U.S., traveling widely throughout this country before settling in Brookly, NY.
Within a year, he had moved to Boston, but returned to New York State, and in 1835 built a house along the Hudson River where he began painting a series of "atmospheric views" of the Hudson River area.
Harvey's works are on display at the NY Historical Society and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
