EAGLES PERCH by Rudi Reichardt
Born in 1929 in Germany, Rudi Reichardt was inspired by the rugged stormy landscape of the Black Forest, exposure to the great European Masters, and most of all, the music of the Baroque that shaped his work and life.
In 1946, at age 17, Rudi began his professional work painting backdrops at the Opera House in Karlsruhe. Reichardt worked there until 1951 when he immigrated to Canada, where he, for the next twelve years, worked as an interior decorator during the day painting murals, paintings and furniture for clients homes. At night, immersing himself in the classical music he loved so well, he would spend endless hours painting the quickly vanishing countryside of Southern Ontario.
Having painted the Canadian landscape, its birds and wildlife, from coast to coast, Reichardt moved to Florida in 1978, where he spent six years painting seascapes, still-life and the landscape, as well as the wildlife of that region.
Drawn by the power and special quality he sensed in the Red Rocks, Rudi and his wife Edith moved to Arizona in 1984.
