THE HERRING FLEET by William Thon. William Thon, an American landscape painter and watercolorist who
continued to work after macular degeneration had left him legally blind, died at his home in Port Clyde, Maine on December 6, 2000 at age 94.
Thon was born in Brooklyn, studied briefly at the Art Students League in Manhattan but was largely self-taught.
